CHECK THIS ARTIST: SHAWN BARBER

This guy might be my favorite artist right now...he combines all of my favorite things; portraiture, tattoos, and has an awesome eye and great understanding of lighting.  A San Fran art heavyweight, Shawn Barber is slowly emerging onto the national scene, but doing things his way. He appeared on an episode of L.A. INK and pops up at rad gallery openings on the west coast.

The above portrait is of former L.A. INK star and talented tattoo artist Kim Saigh.  Not only is this painting superbly crafted, but is near and dear to my heart... Kim was the artist I picked to tattoo my sleeve while I was living in Chicago and she was working at Cherry Bomb Tattoo across town. Too bad she had to bolt to LA to start shooting the show...all good. I still have another arm waiting for her.
