VERDICT TIP #74: CONSULT WITH YOUR MODELS

Tip # 74 pertains to those of you out there who don't have the luxury of pulling some pro model with only one name from Ford Models Inc. Those girls show up knowing what's expected of them and get down to business. 

For the rest of you, amateur models looking to build a portfolio probably fit the bill...and to get the best shots right out of the gate, set up a consult before hand to chat with him or her.  Chances are, you will be asking your model to be scantily clad or to be in suggestive positions. (Even if you are shooting stuff for the church flyer, a consult is NEVER a bad idea) This is a tough way to first meet someone -'Hello there, nice to meet you...now put on this bikini.' - so the more you can throw on the table a week or a few days before the shoot the higher the level of comfort for your model, and the better the photographs. The one thing that these expensive digital cameras capture better than anything, is awkward, uncomfortable subjects.
